Start of summer is the time when trees and plants, both temperate and tropical blast with blooms of various vibrant colours exotic shapes and captivating aromas. These flowers are nature’s way of pollination in a happy way. The pollens are shed and spread far and wide by various agents. These fine dust particles of fertility are the cause for hay fever or pollen allergy or asthma in hypersensitive people. The minute pollen grains in the air trigger a battery of though, not life threatening, affect the day to day routine and life quality apart from draining and weakening the immune system transforming the affected into vulnerability towards respiratory infections.
Signs and Symptoms of Hay Fever
Runny nose, stuffy itching nose, hoarse voice, watery eyes, sneezing, coughing, dark circles under the eyes, itchy eyes, etc. are the primary symptoms of the allergic reaction. Highly sensitive people may exhibit severe symptoms like wheezing, skin rashes, headaches, drowsiness and swellings may be present. Irritability and mood swings are the mental effect of hay fever
Pollen Allergy-Preventive Aspects-Ayurveda
Pollens are the elements of creation and the bearers of the flora on earth and hence need to be flung far and wide. They need to travel and stay in air to reach their destinations. It is the responsibility of those sensitive to pollen to stay safe and shield themselves from the pollens so that the allergic reactions are not triggered. This is a very difficult task. The only solution exists in optimizing the immunity through Ayurveda and healthy lifestyle with the right food, habits and medicines that include Dinacharya, Rutucharya, Yoga and Pranayama (Kapaalabhaati and Ujjaayi Pranaayaama). This way one can enjoy the colours and flavours and fragrances of spring, the healthy way
A few precautions listed below may be followed.
